Dear friends and well-wishers of Kampani Capital,
Come November and no one can miss the Great Indian Wedding Season – the weather gets a lot more benevolent and the cash registers start ringing for the entire Outdoor Event ecosystem. With milestone birthdays now being celebrated with full fervour and live concerts happening across the country from Ahmedabad to Aizawl, Chandigarh to Chennai– we can safely say that the India Consumption story has taken one more decisive upturn. The last quarter of the year has traditionally always seen a consumption uptick as compared to the Sept quarter and this year seems to be no different be it airlines, hotels, restaurants, passenger cars or luxury gifting. This true festive spirit was in full flow when I was Delhi earlier in the month for a family function. I was pleasantly surprised to see that inspite of the winter pollution levels creating some concerns, the parties at Lutyens’ Delhi continued with full gusto and all generations enjoying the best of November outdoor weather – not to miss the wonderful food!
Another good indicator of the positive economic upswing in the increase in job generation that we are seeing in rural India – a sector that has seen some slow-down in the last 12-18 months. Some of the family offices and asset allocators we work closely with have also started looking at some rural consumption opportunities in addition to the usual ESG, Consumer, Auto and QSR.
On the work front, It was a busy month for Sowmya and me as we organised the 2nd India Ambitious Conference in Mumbai over the last one week hosting our overseas partner network. We would like to thank them for their unstinted support as well as our clients and well-wishers who took out time to meet them over the last one week.
Before I end, I have to take a minute and salute one of tennis’ greatest heroes who hung up his boots recently at the Davis Cup – thank you for the moments Rafa – your retirement takes a piece of tennis away from a lot of us !
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy Holiday Season ahead!
Cheers
Amar
