Dear friends and well-wishers of Kampani Capital,
Hope all has been well with you and your family in the last few weeks as we stepped into the new year.I write this letter to you from the historical city of Pune – long known as a smaller cousin to Mumbai but now home to a host of local large conglomerates as well as subsidiaries of large global firms. Infact the story of Pune is also the story of India – a city once known to be an Army Cantonment and retirement haven but now the epicentre of top education institutes, IT firms as well as Manufacturing and Services hub for a host of Indian and global MNCs. This is a city close to my heart and I have been seeing the enormous growth of economic activity here since my B School days of 1999.This also resonates with the interest that India generated at Davos recently with India showing some big economic and political muscle at this annual showcase event. Infact I quote from CNN which says “…..But this year, dominating the main street in Davos are emissaries from India, who have taken over at least eight storefronts with appeals to the elite gathering’s political and business class.”
Over the last few months I have met investors as well as asset managers across the globe as well as in India and there is near unanimity that the next 5 years belong to India. Infact some of the large family offices who have always been big fans of our Eastern neighbour are in the process of allocating big amounts to Indian Pvt and Public markets. I will also take this opportunity to thank all our clients and partners in Delhi, Pune and Bangalore who took out time to meet us this month. Sowmya and I look forward to the Bangalore roadshows in February.We also hope you can make it to our next client event planned soon on the virtual mode which will give a good overview of Indian markets and fund raising opportunities. We look forward to your continued support as we continue to “Grow in India with the world behind us”
