Dear friends and well-wishers of Kampani Capital,
As we stepped into the new financial year, it was yet another busy month for us. In keeping with the theme of emerging India, we made our first roadshows in the bustling Maharashtra city of Aurangabad – home to a number of Auto and Engineering OEMs as well as number of manufacturing units for global firms. As we spend more and more time with firms outside the metros, our belief in the next leg of India’s growth story continues to grow stronger. The bump up impact of the infrastructure spend is now being seen across India and a lot more outside the metros. The availability of land as well as the good quality of manpower is the very basis of the India story and we see more and more of our clients – both founders and family offices coming out of these emerging towns. Interestingly the investment mindset for some of these family offices is now seeing a drastic shift towards newer asset classes like Pvt and Public equity, early stage and deep tech. This transition will surely continue to fuel the fire of investments as well as valuations in these sectors.
Sowmya and I also managed to visit Chennai and Bangalore in the last week inspite of the soaring temperatures as well as the rising election frenzy across the country ! A big highlight of this trip was our visit to meet a few companies at the IIT Madras Incubation Centre – which helps deep tech start-ups in sectors like Climate, Sustainability, AI ML and the like. As of last count there were 350 plus firms that are currently incubated there working on the future of technology with applications across all sectors. This is clearly a testament of the emergence of the entrepreneurial mindset in young India as well as the support from the state for these new initiatives.
Before I close, I must take out time to thank all our clients, partners and well-wishers who took out time to meet us in Chennai, Bangalore and Aurangabad. We also look forward to meeting some of you in Delhi over the next few weeks including some of our family office clients who have been waiting to get a first-hand account of some the advisory work we are doing in areas like Deep Tech, EV, Semicondutors, AI-ML, Consumer, QSR and Automobiles.
